oops...

Here at my "sometimes-I-have-to-pay-some-bills" job we had a BIG truck BACK in to the shop awning!  Fun, right?  You would've THOUGHT I heard it happen when it did.... uh, no.

BUT!  I still giggle when I look at it now (shoulda heard me laughing this morning when I parked the duct tape mobile... LOL)!  Wanna hazard a guess as to how BIG the truck had to be that was backin' in?  And... this is just one portion of a WHOLE STRIP CENTER's worth of awning!  Good times, good times!  (I'm so easily amused, yes?)

Of course.... this all has me thinking about awnings... and so - I will share my thoughts (you're welcome *snicker*).  But in pictures 'cause I really have no valid thoughts yet this morning... I need more caffeine...

Do you think that was a failed drive-by attempt?

Perhaps this is the warning sign for: "STOP!  Don't hit my awning!"

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head... lalalala

These could potentially be mistaken for red flags "hit me here... here... and here..."

This is just downright cool.

I think this is pretty... I wonder if the awning people would replace the 2 city block awning I already have with pepto pink?  Hmmmm....

I know:
I'll fix it MYSELF with my good ol' duct tape...

"We make a building beautiful when we stop for it, arrest the motion of thoughts, and linger with it, rather than merely using it." ~ Robert Sardello in Facing the World with Soul

Have you backed in to any buildings and/or awnings today?  heeeeeeeeee HA!

Comin' to you LIVE from a single-wide (where I'm hoping this post didn't leave you yawning like my awning...)... LOLOLOL

howdy partner...

How ARE you today?!?!

There are two things I grew up with... bluegrass music and square dancin'!

Do you ever listen to the Lewis Family?  How about Earl Scruggs? Uhmmm... dueling banjo's? Ah.... bluegrass music...

"The Daddy red.neck" has been overheard SEVERAL times in my OneHundredandSeventyThreeyears sayin', "just call me Lil' Roy Lewis"...  as he sat in trees playin' his Banjo... running up and down the couch playin' his Banjo... just-a-pickin'-and-a-grinnin'!

Oh c'mon - you KNEW I got it from SOMEWHERE!!!  I come by it all so naturally - I've even been known to bust out singin' "Rocky Top, you'll always be - Home Sweet Home to meeeeeee" at the TOP of my lungs at ANY time - driving, working, sewing, walking, breathing... doesn't matter when...

And Square Dancing!  The across-the-street-neighbors when I was growin' up used to Square Dance and "the Mama" always took me to see them dance... and I would be razzled and dazzled by the RUFFLES and the BLING and the SMILES and the CLICKING sounds the clogs made and the CLAPPING and the WHIRLING ruffles and lace and bling and colors and more ruffles and movement.... oh SO MUCH FUN!!!

"Choose your partners, one and all..."

Anywho - this is what happens when you get inspired.... then you think about climbing a tree with a banjo... and then dancin' around in the tree while pickin' at the banjo... and perhaps cooking some pinto beans. Uhmmm... meet "Bon.nie and Earl":

Now I want to learn how to Square Dance (I can't believe that I haven't learnt myself already!)... do you know how?  Wanna go with me? C'mon - I choose you as my pardner...

feelin' LUCKY!!!

I adore fashion - I am TOTALLY in to the way timeless styles come back 'round again and again...

I have SEW much fun when the "Lucky" mag comes out each month (and I'm 100% certain Grace Kelly had some duct tape)...

Never EVER fails to inspire me -

Either to clean OUT my closet or make something new, fun and interesting. (I bet Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis had some duct tape too...)

Well...

September's Lucky issue speaks to the absolute girliest, fiend for vintage ANYTHING side of me.  Seems that they got my style down JUST RIGHT!!!  Who knew they were hanging out in my closet?

AND!  If you look closely... they even found my cinder blocks! (And you KNOW Audrey Hepburn NEVER left home without HER duct tape...)

I feel so Lucky... now I just need to get past the 105 in the SHADE that it is here today and feel inspired to dig out the cardigans and boots and hoodies and skirts and coats and scarves... ohhhhhhhhhhhh Mr. Weatherman...

comin' to you LIVE from a single-wide (where IS that goofball weatherman? He needs to c'mere...) hee-hee

time...

To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else. ~ Emily Dickinson

exceptin'... I gotta find those wee tee tiny hours of the morning to get BIZZZZZY!!! The count-down is ON!!! First up?

and I'm gonna be there!!! "the Mindy" has invited my duct tape roll in on her CRAZY EXCITEMENT and I get to wander in with some pocketbooks, hats and a few other goodies that you'll just have to go see!!! My toe-tappin' on her behalf is driving even myself crazy - this is going to be so much FUN grinning and mason jar'n with her as she starts a new chapter with her business!!! yeeeeeeeeeeeee HA!

THEN! Shortly after THAT:

My duct tape will be rolled out in all it's glory at Zapp Hall (aka: a red.neck's paradise...)!  I'm in cahoots (once again!) with "the Mindy" of "The Primitique" and we're going to be wreaking some SERIOUS havoc together in Warrenton! (yep - that was your warning... hee-hee)... what color antler chandelier do you think I should surprise her with?  hmmmmm......

I'm thinking this pile needs to grow... and grow some more... and grow some MORE!!!  Sew - I'm gonna leave you for a few days (no worries - I'll be keepin' my eye on you and you and YOU through my duct tape roll) but you understand, right? Pocketbooks to make... hats to be stylin'... all KINDS of cool and fun creations rattlin' 'round in my brain!!!  I'll keep you posted on my progress - 'til then - try your best to stay out of trouble and have some HAPPY JUNKIN' ADVENTURES!!!

But what minutes! Count them by sensation, and not by calendars, and each moment is a day. ~Benjamin Disraeli

Comin' to you LIVE from a single-wide (where I'm buried up to my freckled nose in fabric and fun stuff!)... hee-hee

Tuesday, August 10

just crate.

I hope you are having a HAPPY Tuesday!!!
You know how I am about gardening and growing things...

it's not pretty.... but THESE - they just HAPPEN!!!  How cool is that? Peachy goodness - just for me!

I pull these deeeeeelicious peaches off the tree and bite right into them (after scrubbin' 'em on my shirt...I AM a red.neck...) - but now that I've found this:

An easy peach yogurt parfait with peaches and vanilla yogurt, along with honey and cinnamon and graham crackers.

Ingredients:
1 cup vanilla yogurt
2 small peaches, pitted, peeled, and diced
2 teaspoons honey
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
8 graham crackers, crushed
Preparation: In a bowl, mix together the yogurt, peaches, honey, and cinnamon. Cover and refrigerate to chill thoroughly. To serve, prepare 4 parfait glasses. Into each parfait glass alternate layers of yogurt mixture with graham cracker crumbs, beginning with yogurt and ending with crumbs.

I might be re-thinkin' my peach eatin' strategy... and I figure since it doesn't require flamage I can do this!  I'll just fill up my AWESOME crate that I found in a junk store - drag 'em across the pasture and eat 'em ALL!

As a matter of fact... I think the crate is so CRATE that I can't seem to bring myself to take it in to the Taj Mahal where it's supposed to be headin'!  I keep finding things to put in it...

 Bright Idea!  hee-hee

Forget the diamonds - just hand me some vintage rhinestones and I'm yours...

And then I find things to set the crate on...

So - you wanna come sit on the tailgate (yep - it's on cinder blocks...) with me and eat some peaches?  c'mon - it'll be fun 'cause you're so crate and such a peach...

*snicker*

Comin' to you LIVE from a single-wide (where I'm wearing peach juice on my overalls while carrying my crate around...) hee-hee
