Color Me Happy.

I live in color.

And lately I've kinda had a complex because everything I see is white and cream and linen and burlap and beige...

And it's all so beautiful and I think, "Robelyn - perhaps you should tone it down?"

And then I walk in to the single-wide...

and I grin at the color explosion.  It's me.  It's who I am. I think in color, I dream in color... I live in color. And I wouldn't change a thing...

Unless you moved me in to this house.  Then - I would be changing houses... and that's fine with me.

Since I've decided to make all of you lovely lovely friends-o'-mine responsible for the naming of all new pocketbooks that make their way out of the "red.neck la.bor.a.tor.y" (and I've been busy... so this is going to happen more and more!)... here you go! Meet: "Mar.go".

"Mar.go" came along because - you guessed it - Margo, robolady extraordinaire, needed a pocketbook.  Margo was crazy FUN to design a pocketbook for 'cause she was very specific in her pocketbook needs - and I love that.  I absolutely adore customizing a bag or pattern.

Sew... "Mar.go" was born - a cross-body or a tote, lots of pockets - lots of room! And - 'cause she was inspired by the one-and-only Margo, I'm linking her up to Debra's Vintage Inspiration Friday over at Common Ground!

Here goes! I'll give you the name of the pattern:

Ready: Pattern name is "Mar.go"

Some history of it's components...

Set: THEEEEE quilt top, pair of jeans, leather furniture sample, recycled purse handles... and a GREAT enamel brooch!

then I say GO!

to top it off...

I have a quilt top.

It's been sitting around for a few months (I had decided to perhaps... make a skirt out of it?).

When I remembered I had an ottoman in need of some TLC.

Sew... Insanely large quilt top + really cool ottoman = funky she.k as only a red.neck can get 'er dun.

This is one of the things I drug in to the Taj Mahal Sunday (after the slurpee of course...).  I am currently on a quest to see just how many thingys I can make out of the REST of the quilt top 'cause I didn't even make a teeny tiny DENT in it!!!

The suggestion box is now open. What should I make out of more of the quilt top?  Hmmm.....

Comfort Food

It is cold.  I mean... freeze-my-freckles cold.

I LOVE IT!!!  But it makes me want to eat soup.  My FAVORITE soup is the tater soup "the Mama" makes (hint, hint) but I don't know her recipe (it could be top secret. hmmm.....) - so I found one.

Baked Potato Soup

This has got to be almost the epitome of Southern comfort food.

Serves: 8
Cook Time: 20 Minutes

Ingredients

• 8 slices Hickory Smoked Bacon
• 1 onion, diced
• 1/2 cup all purpose flour
• 3 (14.5 ounce) cans chicken broth
• 5 potatoes, baked, peeled and diced
• 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
• 2 cups half & half
• 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
• 1 cup sour cream
• Salt & pepper to taste (optional)

Steps

In a Dutch oven cook bacon until crisp; remove and crumble, reserve drippings.

Cook onion in bacon drippings until tender; stir in flour and cook for one minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add chicken broth; cook, stirring constantly until thickened and bubbly. Put in the diced potatoes, parsley, bacon and half & half; cook for 10 minutes. Stir in cheese and sour cream.

Serving Suggestions

Garnish with cheese, bacon and sour cream.

I'm not real sure what a dutch oven is (and it is not recommended that I burn the single-wide down (yet again) trying to cook) - so I'm hoping YOU are going to cook?  I can be there by dinner time and I'll stop and pick up Mr. Tater Head on the way 'cause you KNOW you want to play with one now...

Winter red.neck Land...

Yesterday while I was supposed to be doing a complete overhaul on the Taj Mahal in the Hillsboro Antique Mall...
(*snicker* I promise, that rhyme was not intended... and now it has ended...)

I instead played in the SNOW!

Uh huh - it SNOWED...

and it snowed some more...

and it snowed HARD! Big fat fluffy snowy flakes - for a few hours - then the sun came out and POOF - it was gone. Just like that.

While it was snowing - I drank a slurpee...

This pillow is kinda growing on me.

And you thought ugly FUN crocheted afghans were so last last last last last last last last last last last last last... year.
