Rollin' out my duct tape...

I'm here! I'm here! I have been rushing around and getting my duct tape ready to roll to Dallas, Texas! Tomorrow afternoon I leave with a car full of...........well................junky cool stuff, a few chandeliers and some special handbags to take to a new ART GALLERY (YES! You read that right - an ART GALLERY!!!) that is having it's Grand Opening CELEBRATION on Friday (I am not a procrastinator...ha!)!

red.neck Chic IS all about duct tapin' the sophisticated... bwoo haha (that was my evil laugh...go along with me on that.) ha!

I will update with some photos and all of the fun and excitement as soon as I get back!!! In the mean time (while I'm sewing and loading, hanging junk off of chandeliers, spray painting some antlers, sewing some more) I will leave you with these words of wisdom...

EXTREMELY graphic - proceed with caution!

Just a warning - this post is not for the faint of heart. It includes graphic photos of guts, bones, saws...
thread, foam and lots of dust! I struggled for many minutes on how to title this post...
"I think out of the couch" or "I see purses..." or "I'm not a couch a potato" or "you might be a red.neck if..."

Have a seat...come and listen to a little story about a red.neck girl...
A poor purse girl, barely kept her fat cat fed,
Then one day she was shoppin' for some junk -
And up through the piles came a fabric covered hunk.

Of couch that is. vintage floral cut velvet. red.neck bliss.
(I'm SO low maintenance. Are you humming the hillbillies song yet? HA!)

Well, the first thing you know ol' red.neck girl's a loadin' up (thanks to trusty side-kick and red.neck in training...can you believe he still passes garage sale signs? geesh...)
Kinfolk said "what the heck you doin' with THAT thing?"
Said the dumpsters the place you ought to be

So they loaded up the truck and moved to destruction alllllllley.

Chainsaws, sharp blades.

Oh, wait. Stop the music for a second. Did you know that some city-slickers have ELECTRIC chain saws? I didn't even know such a thing existed.... how can you play the chainsaw song and sing at the top of your lungs with an ELECTRIC chain saw? Good grief...there's some serious learnin' to be done to those city folk.

TONS of vintage fabric!!! I can't tell you how excited I was to find this couch - I'm so easy LOL! Vintage cut velvet is SO hard to come by - and there it was! Cheap the way I like it, gorgeous - and most all of it in perfect condition (minus the dust!) Now, my side-kick and partner in red.neck crime? I think he could still be experiencing some "couch destruction" shock...but I'm pretty positive he's used to it by now - I'm skeert that someday his eyes are going to get stuck in the "shock" mode when I voice one of my hair-brained schemes...

So we spent Labor Day doing some serious labor!!! We cut off all usable fabric (even the tee-tiny little squares only I could love!), pulled out some springs and various other parts for other projects and got to breakin' down what wouldn't fit in my red.neck mobile! The rest of it? hmmmm....I plead the 5th! LOL

But I will tell you - the fabric sent me flyin' back out to the "la.boooooooooooor.a.tory" once more - wait 'til you see the things I've come up with! They will be in my Etsy shop soon!

When you look at couches do you imagine better things? LOL What's your favorite "no way should it be that, it should be THIS" story? I know you have to have one...

Well now its time to say good-bye to the red.neck girl
I sure would like to thank you folks fer kindly droppin' in.
You're all invited back again to this locality
To have a heapin' helpin' of hospitality - red.neck that is.
Set a spell (uh...let me find another couch). Take your shoes off.

Hope you are having a fantastic week-end!!! Happy junkin' - and you might want to keep your eye on your couch... Y'all come back now, y'hear?

P.S. I really hope that wasn't your couch...

My rake is a jewelry holder...

September confession: I run out the door every morning (starting on the first of September) to see if the leaves are falling yet...
There. Now you know.
This red.neck is all about Autumn (or Fall....I usually refer to it as fall, but since fall is too closely related to the way I walk, I will now refer to it as Autumn.). The sight of just ONE brown and crispy leaf on my lawn (or pasture - it's just that lawn sounds better) sends me into the happy red.neck dance! I've been twirling and bouncing around all morning 'cause this morning THERE IT WAS!!!

It was just laying there - waiting for my admiration and unending adoration!!! And look at that - it has freckles too!!! I make a mad dash for the fall - uh uhm - Autumn decor boxes, I can be spotted digging around in the underbrush for berries and branches - I u-turn for garage sales sporting big scarecrows - I love Autumn!!!

The crisp breeze, adding cardigans and boots to summer dresses (yeah, I do that!), the crunch of the leaves under my feet (no raking for me - I use mine as a jewelry holder...)

...the smell of winter on it's way!!!

What? Don't look at me like that over your hand-held fan and ice pack... a girl can dream right?

ANY.WAY! This morning I gathered up all of my autumn goodies (stopped at a few garage sales in the middle of that...) and piled it high on my living room cabinet (and all surrounding free floor space, and the dining table, and the...)

I was so excited to pull everything out I didn't even put all of the late summer decor away! Some of my pumpkins were lacking in the required sparkly department, so I ran out to the "la.booooor.a.tory" with my garage sale ceramic pumpkins in hand, grabbed up some ceramic glue and my glitter bottles and got to work -

(so easy - you should try it!!!) I have some added color and PEEEEEEZAAAAAAZ!!!!! No red.neck ANYTHING is complete without the bling...

So what am I doing for the rest of today (besides getting my tank tops, flip flops and summer skirts cleaned up in the hopes I can pack them away in the near future...)? Besides pulling out my boots, dusting off my cardigans and watching for more leaves to fall (along with the temps...)? Finding a home for all of the Autumn decor I flung across my living room in sheer happiness of course!

There will be no spot chandelier candle holder or throw pillow that will not get some autumn inspiration... no flat surface that won't get changed for the season...I'm even thinking new curtains...

Autumn is just around the corner!!! And! I have an extra day to change things out! YESSSSSSS!!!

So what are you doing for this long holiday week-end? Big picnics, family gatherings, unloading your fall storage containers? Please, tell me I'm not the only one yanking out the pumpkins, gourds and fall foliage...

I hope you and yours have a VERY HAPPY LABOR DAY!!! If you're not busy, you are welcome to join me in the autumn leaves!!!
